Continuing from the previous month, The plant had Daily violations for BOD and Ammonia, and exexceeded the monthly average for phosphorus. As part of the Hurricane Florance Recovery Project, the SBRs were returned to automation last month (May). Due to the change from the manual operation to a more fluid automated operation we believe this may have contributed to the BOD some but mostly believe the redundant chlorine feed is more likely the cause and we also observed an increase in the COD samples collected. The chlorine pumps have been temporarily linked to the post EQ pumps but the operators control was limited on the feed rate. We have worked with the intergrators and have implemented a settings adjustment option for the operators and the BOD's have returned to compliant levels. In addition, the chemical feed pumps for the SBR process were not linking properly to the operational program which resulted in less than desired chemical feed to the SBR. Although we believe this issue had been addressed and fixed, the chemical feed pumps started having linkage issues again with the scaada system and a pump specialist was called in for assistance. We have notified the Wilmington Regional Office and will continue to update them on our progress and any further violations. All othefparameters were compliant for the month.
