proposed Battleship NORTH CAROLINA Living with Water Project
Dear Division Engineer Chad Kimes,
On behalf of the USS Battleship North Carolina, Moffatt & Nichol has completed a Coastal Area
Management Act (CAMA) major permit application for the proposed Living with Water project. The
proposed project, Living with Water, includes the following project elements: restore 720 linear feet of
hardened shoreline with a living shoreline, remove existing impervious parking lot to create approximately 2
acres of tidal creek and intertidal wetlands, elevate the existing parking lot to 6 ft, build a wooden boardwalk,
and construct a pervious overflow parking lot. The specifics of the proposed work are in the enclosed
application forms and drawings.
As the adjacent riparian property owners to the aforementioned project, the USS Battleship is required to
notify you of the development to give you the opportunity to comment on the project. Please review the
attached permit application and drawings.
Comments on the application may be provided to Ms. Tara MacPherson, NC Division of Coastal
Management (DCM) at 127 Cardinal Drive Ext., Wilmington, NC 28405-3845, 910-796-7266 or via
email at [e-mail]. Please note, DCM will receive comments for a 30-day period. If
no comments are provided within the 30-day period, DCM will consider the response as `no objection'.
