PNG- LINE 142 MOD & STREAMBANK STABILIZATION

Gentlemen:
On December 13, 2022, Piedmont Natural Gas (PNG) submitted a Pre -Construction Notification
(PCN) for modification to the Line 142 natural gas project. The modification consisted of (1) a change
from horizontal directional drill (HDD) to open -cut trenching due to geological constraints on
construction between Station 189+00 and Station 209+00 and (2) streambank stabilization along a
50-ft stretch of Beddingfield Creek which parallels and flows north of the natural gas easement east
of Shotwell Road.
On January 12, 2023, PNG received provisional approval from USACE via email for the modification
to the project as described above.
Since that time, the streambank stabilization grading has been refined to ensure that no fill is placed
in the floodplain associated with Beddingfield Creek. Attached is the revised plan sheet indicating
the proposed stabilization through the laying back of the existing streambank on a 1.25:1 slope and
then stabilizing with Flexamat. This streambank stabilization does not change the wetland and
stream impact tables submitted in the modification on December 13, 2022.
