General Project Narrative:
The project involves the replacement of Bridge Nos. 770300 and 770299 over Saddletree Swamp on SR 1529 (Mt Olive Church Rd) in Robeson County. The proposed 55' long by
(Description of Minimization of Water
33' wide (21" cored slab) single -span bridges would replace the existing 35.8' long by 29.3' wide (rein. conc. deck on timber girders) two -span bridges at the existing locations. The
Quality Impacts)
proposed grade will be approximately 0.5' above the existing grade.
The project is within the Lumber River Basin and is not subject to riparian buffer rules. The proposed bridges will have no direct discharge into Saddletree Swamp (no deck drains).
Stormwater runoff from the proposed bridges will flow to modified concrete flumes on each side of the roadway at the ends of the bridges (#300 - west end, #299 - east end) where
it will be diffused onto rip -rap pads. All proposed stormwater runoff will be discharged as far away from the stream and at the lowest velocities as practicable.
Project minimum measures include:
>3:1 fill slopes.
>Maximizing shoulder section.
>Providing adequate ground cover.
>Stabilizing embankments and drainage ditches.
>Providing adequate energy dissipation.
>Utilizing natural features and drainage pathways - Existing drainage pathways were utilized to the maximum extent practicable.
