R . 5 9 ( S F - 8 8 0 0 0 9 ) W E T L A N D P E R M I T I M P A C T S U M M A R Y SU R F A C E W A T E R I M P A C T S WE T L A N D I M P A C T S TYRRELL COUNTY NC D E P A R T M E N T O F T R A N S P O R T A T I O N DI V I S I O N O F H I G H W A Y S         April 20, 2015      UTILITY NARRATIVE  REPLACE BRIDGE NO. 880009 IN TYRRELL COUNTY    Existing Utilities:   The underground fiber optic cable under the Canal owned by MCNC along  the south/left side of NC 94 in Tyrrell County will be abandoned and  replaced due to conflict with the proposed bridge construction.   The underground gas line under the Canal owned by PNG along the  south/left side of NC 94 in Tyrrell County will be abandoned and replaced  due to conflict with the proposed bridge construction.     Proposed Utilities:   A proposed 2” triduct e/w 144ct fiber (telephone cable) will be installed on  the south/left side of the proposed bridge and roadway under the Canal by  directional drill method and tie into the existing telephone line. The  directional drill will begin approximately 370’ south and end 120’ north of  the Canal. The new bore path will be placed close to the edge of the  paralleling Canal and will maintain a depth of 10’ beneath the bottom of  the crossing Canal. A 3’x20’ Bore Pit and Landing Pit will be provided at the  beginning and end respectively to intercept existing MCNC line. The drill rig  will have a 210” x 55” foot print and a 24”x 36” x 30” NCDOT approved  handhole will be provided. The tie in points will be outside the wetland  boundaries.   A proposed 4” HDPE Gas Main will be installed on the north/right side of  the proposed bridge and roadway under the Canal by directional drill  method and tie into the existing gas line. The directional drill will begin  approximately 80’ south and end 230’ north of the Canal. The new bore  path will maintain a depth of 10’ beneath the bottom of the Canal and at  least 3’ below the finished grade as it crosses the roadway to tie to the  existing gas line. The tie in points will be outside the wetland boundaries.
