The plant was non -compliant for effluent average monthly Total Nitrogen Limit at 7.15 mg/1 (limit is 4 mg/I) and Total Phosphorus at 2.20 mg/I (limit is 2 mg/1). Increased flows from 257,000 GPD at the begining t
the month to 427,000 GPD at end of month caused pipe scouring and an increase in septic wastewater and solids to the plant as tourist season continues. This caused an increase in Nitrates and Total Kjeldahl
Nitrogen. Additional samples were collected. Aeration, Micro-C (carbon source), and Aluminum were adjusted. We increased the addition of blends of nitrifying bacteria on May 2, 2023 that are dosed in
Biological Nutrient Removal tanks and continue communicating with supplier to mitigate this issue. The June 5, 19, 26, 2023 BOD samples were estimated and did not meet quality control requirements. The
contract laboratory verbally discussed issues with their laboratory water supplier. They have switched suppliers and this issue is resolved.
