One of our staff was recently at the subject site and had some questions for me
regarding the permitting of the pond and it's outlet structure. In looking at the
November 14, 2006, permitted plans vs. the originally approved plans from 1996, I
see that Chris Baker, who was very new to DWQ at the time, inadvertently approved
the new plans without a specific detail for the outlet structure and it's 1"
orifice. The permit does make reference to the 1" orifice, but the 11/14/2006 plans
do not contain a detail of it's location.
The 1996 approved plan contains a note that the 4" PVC line through the pond bank
has a 1" orifice on the capped end with a concrete collar. To complete our records,
please add this note to the plans and add a detail of the 4" capped pipe with the
1" orifice, and submit 2 copies as a plan revision. The Division will add the plan
sheet(s) to the approved plan set and forward an approved copy to the permittee.
I am printing a hard copy of this email and sending it to the permittee, Mr. Ralph
Griffin.
