Inspection Summary:
A routine inspection of A Place at the Beach III WWTF was conducted on July 26, 2023. The purpose of the
evaluation was to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in Permit
WQ0004230. Don O'Mara was present during the inspection.
This Reciprocating Wetlanda (ReCip) Biological Reactor system is designed to treat 55,000 GPD. Flows reached 43,600
GPD during this July 4th weekend, the height of the summer season. Limited solids are removed from the ReCip cells by
Barnes Environmental before the summer season begins and the settling tank solids are removed by Craven Ag Services
twice a year. There are 2 spare pumps available for the ReCip system.
The aggregate media in the concrete basins of the ReCip system has appeared to have settled over time and removal of
solids throughout the aggregate is limited due to design. A preliminary analysis of wastewater treatment alternatives to
replace the current system was conducted in November 2022, and progress continues to find the best design to meet
compliance limits.
The facility is compliant with Non -Discharge Permit WQ0004230. Please review the comment sections of the inspection
report for more details.
