Mr. Eplin,
We were not aware of any material that was released to the pond that would create such a low pH.
On 07/05/23, although the pond was not overflowing at the time, using a long handle dipper, samples were pulled at the
north and south sides of the pond and the pH results were within benchmark range (6.7 and 6.6 SU respectively). The
follow-up stormwater inspection conducted that same date did not indicate any sources for the low pH for the sample
obtained 6/20/23 either.
It is possible that there was a sampling error, although that does not seem likely based on interviews with our operator
who obtained the samples.
You are correct that this pond discharge does not normally exhibit low pH. We expect further sampling events to be
within the benchmark range.
Please advise if you need further information.

Ms. Fincher:
DEQ has received your Tier 1 notification related to pH. Have you been able to identify a source of the low pH? I
reviewed the file on the facility, and I did not see a history of low pH readings. This appears to be an unusual
reading. A pH of 2.4 is very low for stormwater. Please provide additional information as it becomes available.
Thank you.

Mr. Khan,
Our general stormwater permit number is NCG060230.
We exceeded the lower range of the pH benchmark for Outfall 001. This triggers a Tier One Tier Responses.
The sample was obtained 06/20/23 and the pH was 2.4 S.U.
