Dear Mrs. Manuel,
I am writing in response to the NOV letter (# NOV-2023-LV-0405 ) received by the Town
of Scotland Neck on July 5, 2023 concerning the exceedance of our weekly BOD, 5-DAY
limit.
As was noted in the April DMR, the weekly average exceeded our limit during the first week
of the month because of an unusually high test result on the 3rd of the month. This appears
to have been an isolated situation and may have come from a mistake in handling the
samples or possibly a contaminated bottle.
We have been compliant for the last 20 months and we are doing everything we can to
operate and maintain our WWTP as designed, and in a manner that will yield optimum
results. I would appreciate your consideration on this matter.
