Also, note that the incident reported in BIMS requires a press release. The Spill Notice was published in the local newspaper. The SSO, Incident No. 202300900, was located within Sub -Basin `I' at Manhole I-254 in the Key Street Interceptor. An obstruction of rags and debris caused the incident and was promptly rectified by cleaning the line running through the street to the point of the sewer line blockage. The surrounding area was cleaned, and lime was spread to stabilize pathogens and reduce animal attraction. No recurrent maintenance concerns have arisen regarding the line, as this is its first known incident. While a civil penalty may be minor concerning the cost of collection system work, the penalty will still be funds the District cannot utilize to perform required work to the collection system. The Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District gratefully appreciates your time and favorable consideration in this matter. Should you require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
