Brittany,
Regarding the subject NOI, I had a conversation with the consultant, Larry Anderson, regarding current site conditions
and proposed mining activities. Per Mr. Anderson and a Google Earth view, the site is currently a cleared field with an
existing drainage ditch and there has been no previous or current mining activities. Therefore, a site visit has not been
conducted or entered into BIMS. Skimmer basins as shown on the site plans will discharge stormwater and/or mine
dewatering into the existing drainage ditch, which leads to the receiving water(Spring Branch). The end of the drainage
ditch, prior to any wetlands or stream, will be the discharge outfall for monitoring. We also discussed the need for a
Pumping Operation and Monitoring Plan to be submitted for review and approval due to the proximity of wetlands and
proposed dewatering activity.
Based on my conversation with Mr. Anderson and upon review of the NOI, there are no objections to issuance of
coverage under the NCG020000 General Permit. Coverage should authorize discharges of stormwater and/or mine
dewatering wastewater as indicated in the NOI.
If there are any questions or you need additional information, please contact me.
