Site inspection was conducted on July 14, 2023 by Kevin Mitchell with the Asheville Regional Office. Ross Straup, Jon
Osipovitch, and Jesse Martinez were present during the inspection. According to staff and rain gauge data the project
received 2.61 inches in 1-2 hours on the night of July 13, 2023. The following items are considered urgent:
Station Y6 32+00 LT (Site 18) - Erosion control devices were overwhelmed. Sediment entered the JS. Ross and I
walked the JS and observed a few small pockets of sediment that were removed by the end of the day with photos
received on 7.14.
Station L3 779+00 LT (Site 1) - Fill slope was disturbed and measures were overhwelmed. Off -site sediment was
observed in the JS — 3-5 5 gallon buckets.
Station L3 875+00 LT (Site 10) - Off -site sediment was observed in high flow barrel of box culvert. Crew was in the
process of removing the sediment. The source appears to originate from ditch at Station 779+00 LT. Additional
measures are needed.
Station L3 966+00 LT - Off -site sedminet was observed in tributary and mainstem JS. Sediment appears to have
bypassed underneath last measure. Cleanup of JS is required.
NPDES records were up to date and well maintained.
A follow up inspection is scheduled for 7.21.23.
