Once there it was explained to us that the anticipated Permit Modification is for the purpose of capturing already existing impacts. The new proposed 1 ditch will not impact the streams at Sites 31 and 32. So, the questions that I had last week are a moot point now. The Contractor will start work to construct the new ditch later this week. I have attached a picture showing the existing impacts at Permit Site 32. We will be requesting additional bank stabilization where the proposed new ditch will tie into the existing stream banks. In this area of the project, this is the last order of business for the contractor to complete. This work also aids in the stabilization of the newly constructed slope. We (NCDOT) have been asked if this work can be conducted prior to the submittal/approval of the permit mod. In addition, the original permit impacts have been installed at permit sites 31 and 32. Please share your thoughts on this request. For your review I have attached a plan sheet that depicts our proposed work. Joel M.
