The outfall pipe for the facility has been extended and an effluent sampling port has been installed. This facility only operates for about 2 months per year. Mr. White keep the air on to the aeration basins for 15 min per hour when the camp is shut down. At the facility start up every season, Mr. White has half of the activated sludge pumped out of the basins to adjust the sludge age. The camp has a new dining hall with a grease trap, which Mr. White says has improved the wastewater treatment. Overall the WWTP appeared to be functioning well and the effluent was free of visible solids. NC0033430 17 (Cont.)
