This inspection was conducted to determine whether the facility is being operated and maintained in conpliance with NPDES Permit No. NC0024431. The following items were noted during the inspection: Sand Filters: There is an overgrowth of weeds in the sand filters, especially in the last two sand filters (numbers 3 and 4) which could diminish their filtering capacity. Proper maintenance of the sand filters is required the WWTP to operate as intended. Disinfection and De -Chlorination: The drain pipe leading from the sand filters to the chlorination chambers shows a significant leak underneath the pipe that needs to be addressed due to potential bypassing of the chlorination process. Additionally, there is structural deterioration of the wall between the polishing pond and the de -chlorination chamber allowing a significant leak which could lead to potential bypassing of the de -chlorination process.
