Subject: Rescission of NPDES Permit NCO088676 - Norwood WTP
Importance: High
The Division received your request to rescind the subject permit. We do not object to this request.
Per the approval of this action by the Mooresville Regional Office, NPDES permit NCO088676 is hereby rescinded,
effective immediately. This message is to close the permit file for the Division, and for your records.
If in the future you wish to discharge wastewater to the State's surface waters, you must first apply for and receive a
new NPDES permit.
If you have any questions concerning this matter, simply reply to this message.
PLEASE NOTE: as part of the Division's conversion to paperless communication, this email is the only notification you will
be sent regarding the CoC rescission. No hard copy will be mailed.

Good morning Mr. Weaver:
Pursuant to your recommendation that a discharge permit is not needed for the WTP since backwash water is
discharged into the sanitary sewer system, the Town will not seek to renew this permit. According to Brian Keith (WTP
ORC), all wastewater from the plant is pumped into a sewer manhole across the road (Allenton Street) from the waste
basin. During his tenure, no backwash water has ever been discharged back to the lake, nor does the waste basin have a
discharge pipe going back to the lake. The only way for plant wastewater to reach the lake would be if the waste basin
was to run over, which Brian believes to be highly unlikely.
If you have any questions or need any additional action from the Town, please advise.
Thanks, Ray
