NPDES Permit; Update — Transfer of Water Between Basins
Dear Dr. Chernikov:
Duke Energy Progress, LLC. (Duke Energy) is submitting this letter to update the current permit
application on file to include transfer of water from the Inactive Basin 1 to Outfall 005b._
Historically, Duke, Energy has been allowed to move water from basin to basin to help in the facilitation of
the dewatering process. The proposed route for dewatering of Inactive Basin 1 will use this basin -to -basin
approach. The water in Inactive Basin 1 will be transferred to Inactive Basin 3 and discharged to the
Neuse River via Outfall 005b.
Duke Energy will adhere to the effluent conditions and monitoring requirements in permit. Condition A (7) -
Outfall 005b (Inactive Asia; Pond Dewatering) and requests that submittal of this letter meet the
requirement for application file update and a permit modification not be required. If there are any
