Enclosed please find the Town of Mocksville's Pretreatment Annual Report (PAR) covering the
period of January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022. This package contains a copy of the PPI,
PPS, SNCR, and a historic SNC report.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION:
➢ AT, LTMP, SUO, ERP, HWA, and IWS are up to date
➢ All Dates on the Division's Database Program Info Sheet are correct
➢ A copy of our Program Info sheet is enclosed with corrections
GENERAL PERMIT INFORMATION:
➢ Both the Brakebush Brothers Industrial User Permit(IUP #0004) and the POTW's
NPDES Permit(NC0021491) expired prior to renewal (see "Other Misc. Information').
A copy of the IUP is attached.
➢ No new or Name Changes at any SIUs

ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS by POTW, and Industry responses, for Non-SNC,Non-Order,

The SIU incurred no fines during the 2022 year. Overall, this Industry has been very cooperative
with the Town in resolving compliance issues.

The SIU received(2)NOVs during the 2022 year. The SIU was not in SNC. The SIU was
overall responsive and cooperative in taking corrective action following the below BOD daily
maximum exceedance violations that occurred within the Jan—Jun 2022 period. The corrective
actions taken to resolve the violations were effective. No further violations occurred for the
remainder of the year.
APRIL 2022
(1) BOD DAILY MAXIMUM EXCEEDANCE
No penalties imposed, however, the SIU was required to submit a response letter.
DULY 2022
(2) BOD DAILY MAXIMUM EXCEEDANCES
No penalties imposed, however, the SIU was required to submit a response letter.
Below is correspondence to the Town of Mocksville received from the SIU (Brakebush
Brothers) sharing their observations and the corresponding corrective actions taken to reduce
them:
➢ Observations : Marination drum washout at the beginning of sanitation on item 71462
shows an excessive amount of build up being rinsed down the drain.
➢ Corrective action: Marination drums will receive a small volume rinse out that is
captured in totes to be sent off with our inedible waste stream.
➢ Observation: Continual floor rinsing of dry material during production, in order to keep
the floor clean, is resulting in a large amount of soluble material being rinsed down the
drain.
➢ Corrective action: Continual floor rinse downs will be eliminated and will be done on an
hourly basis. There will also be an increased effort on dry cleanup to get these material
off the floor and into our inedible. As we monitor the cleanliness of the floor, we hope to
move this rinse down back to every other hour.
➢ Observation: Large amounts of product drip off is falling to the floor at the start of the
process line and ending up in the drain.
➢ Corrective action: We will be constructing drip pans under the lines with pumps attached
to move the drip off to inedible containers. This will take a bit of time to construct and
get in place,but we have one line completed and have seen a reduction in the
neighborhood of 6000# a day of heavy protein laden material.
OTHER MISC. INFORMATION:
In 2021, the facility requested increased permit limits for flows and BOD (lbs/day) for the
facility due to increased production. The Town of Mocksville, Dutchman Creek Wastewater
Treatment plant (receiving POTW) has had the capacity to accommodate the increased BOD

allowance and granted a new permit for the next three-year term to accommodate the requested
increase limits. The Brakebush facility permit#0004 was renewed in March 2022.
NC-DEQ conducted an audit of the pretreatment program documentation on 8/01/2022. No
deficiencies found.
