I hope all is well and you have been enjoying the spring weather. We are working a stream bank
stabilization project for Surry County that fits under NWP 13. Attached are site photos, figures, plans, etc. and
the following is locator information:
Project Location: Elkin, Surry County, north of West Market Street, between Memorial Park Drive
and North Front Street
Stream Name and Feet of Impacts: Elkin Creek, 241 linear feet of impacts
Latitude/Longitude: 36.24483,-80.85686
Property Owner and Parcel ID: Town of Elkin, 4951 1323 3350
The site is adjacent to a gravel parking area. We are proposing to stabilize the bank, grade the bank to a 2.5:1
slope, install a rock toe, and place geo-lifts on top of the rock toe. The geo-lifts will be planted with riparian
seed mix and shrub species.
Based on the terms of NWP 13, this should qualify as a non -notifying NWP 13. Please let me know if you
concur with this non -notifying determination. We will submit a PCN to the Division of Water Resources for
a 401 Water Quality Certification and will check "yes" under the "For the record only for Corps Permit"
section unless we hear otherwise from you. If you need additional information, please let me know.
