Dear Mr. Stone,
Enclosed please find a copy of the Compliance Evaluation Inspection Report for the
inspection we conducted at the Kersey Valley MSW Landfill on January 23, 2023. Please note
that in the stormwater inspection report summary we ask that you install erosion and sediment
control BMPS to reduce the TSS results and document wildlife for fecal coliform bacteria
monitoring relief.
The report should be self-explanatory; however, should you have any questions, please do
not hesitate to contact Lily Kay at (336) 776-9655 or by E-mail at lily.kay@ncdenr.gov.

Inspection Summary:
The Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and related documentation was complete including employee training
records, inspection records, and the annual certification. The Qualitative monitoring records were available, but some were
incomplete. The facility is in Tier II for TSS and fecal coliform at outlets 1, 3, and 5. Outlets 1 and 3 are located in the
closed portion of the landfill and the fecal appears to be a result of the wildlife. Construction BMPs are recommended to
reduce the TSS results. The facility appeared well operated and maintained, but cattails have grown in the outlet 5 pond and
may need to be removed. If you have questions, contact me at Lily. Kay@ncdenr.gov or by phone at (336) 776-9655.
