Good afternoon,
Based upon the inspection conducted,we determined that outfalls 2 and 3 drain directly to outfall 1. Monitoring
requirements are not necessary at outfalls 2 and 3 as all stormwater for the facility leaves the site at outfall 1.

Good morning,
Could you all update Nick on the outfall determination(s)for this facility to guide them on upcoming sampling? Brittany
would normally coordinate, but she is out this week.
Thank you!

Good morning Bethany,
Hope you had a great weekend. I wanted to follow up on the inspection completed a few weeks ago.The facility sent me
a copy of the inspection report; however, I did not see anything about the concurrence to recognize a single outfall. Is
there any additional information needed? I'd like to help the facility plan for their upcoming qualitative monitoring and
inspections.
Thank you for your help with this!

Nick,
The MRO office indicated that this site hasn't been inspected in a while and will be added to the list for a visit. Jerry
Eplin from that office should be in touch.

Good morning,
Please see the request for concurrence with outfall evaluation on behalf of the permittee for NCG070227 below. I
advised that this would require a site visit by MRO to confirm, if they are asking for agreement of changes before we
enter them into our BIMS system. I'm also copying our General Permits coordinator, Brittany Cook.

Ms. Georgoulias,
Hanley Environmental was contracted by Metro Stone &Granite to assist with stormwater compliance in advance of the
new general permit to be issued June 1, 2023. We are submitting this request to update the number of outfalls at the
facility from 3 to 1.The facility previously identified three outfalls in its application in 2022. During a site visit on April 21,
2023, Hanley Environmental identified that site stormwater from industrial areas flows to an unnamed roadside
intermittent stream (as classified by USGS).The unnamed intermittent stream flows west until discharge into East Fork
Twelvemile Creek. Therefore, I am submitting this request to reduce the number of outfalls. Facility information and a
description of site drainage is discussed below, and two site maps are attached for reference.
Facility Name: Metro Stone &Granite, Inc. Monroe Facility
Location: 1720 Tower Industrial Drive
Monroe, Union County, North Carolina 28110
NPDES ID: NCG070000
Certificate of Coverage No. NCG070227
Site Coordinates (center): Latitude: 35.03194 N
Longitude: 80.62784 W
(Obtained from Google Earth)
Receiving Water: East Fork Twelvemile Creek
Site maps for this facility are included as Figures 2 and 3. The site maps show the locations of the site buildings, site
topography, approximate stormwater flow directions, material storage areas, drainage structures, the outfall drainage
area, parking lot, and other impervious areas. Generally, runoff in the northern, eastern and western portions of the site
is controlled by surface topography and drains as sheet flow to the intermittent stream along impervious and pervious
surfaces. Runoff on the southern portion of the site drains across impervious surfaces to stormwater inlets, then flows
through underground piping and a discharge culvert, and into a vegetated swale before ultimately flowing into the
intermittent stream. Drainage features ultimately discharge to a stormwater outfall, identified as Outfall 001,which is the
location where the intermittent stream leaves the property boundary. Additionally, a portion of stormwater runoff is
expected to infiltrate pervious surfaces at the site, or travel as sheet flow from areas outside the developed industrial
5
portion of the site toward low-lying areas. The outfall and stormwater features are presented on Figure 3. The outfall
location (including latitude/longitude), acreage, and percentage of impervious area is summarized below.
Outfall Location Latitude Longitude Approx. Approx. Percentage of
Number Total Impervious Impervious
Area Area (Acres) Area
(Acres)
Outfall001 Northwestern 35.032105 -80.628312 0.91 0.65 71.67%
Corner of
Property
Outfall 001 discharges from the property boundary and continues to flow west towards East Fork Twelvemile Creek.
We are requesting your concurrence to recognize a single outfall at this facility. Please contact me if you have any
questions or would like to discuss this request.
Thank you,
