PROJECT NARRATIVE
for
Croft Pointe Sewer Expansion
Brunswick County, North Carolina
April, 2023
Croft Pointe is an existing single family subdivision and is located approximately 2.4 miles south of
the intersection of NC 133 (River Road SE) and US Highway 74 in Brunswick County, NC. The
existing homes within the project area are currently utilizing septic drain fields for waste water
treatment. This project will provide the ability to make connection to a pressure sewer system should
the homeowner desire to do so.
Waste Water Collection System
The sewer system is comprised of the installation of 917 LF of new 2-inch pressure sewer line to
serve the 12 lots within the subdivision. The proposed sewer lines will connect to an existing
Brunswick Regional Water and Sewer H2GO manhole along Thistle Downs SE. All 12 lots will have
the option to install simplex grinder stations which pump to the proposed pressure sewer lines and
then directly to the gravity sewer manhole and then to the Belville Waste Water Treatment Plant
(#NC0075540). This design analysis examines the use of a low pressure sewer system for wastewater
flow from 12 single family lots in the Croft Pointe Subdivision. For purposes of the model, Zoeller
840 Shark, 2 HP grinder pumps were used. The proposed sewer system is to tie into the existing
Belville WWTP.
The design analysis was based on the NCDEQ recommended method found in Table 3 of the E/ONE
Extreme Series for low pressure sewer design. This method uses the values found in Table 3 for the
statistically most likely number of pumps running simultaneously based on the number of connections
to the system. In this case there are 12 connections and based on Table 3, at any given time the
system could see up to 4 pumps running simultaneously. The sewer model was analyzed using KY
Pipe 2000 hydraulic model.
1. The design basis is as follow:
a. 210 gpd/connection
b. 12 single family connections
c. SDR-21 Pipe Types
d. 130 C factor
e. 1 terminal end location
The recommended pump is capable of delivering 45 gpm against a total head of 10 feet and with a
shutoff head of 104 total dynamic head. Cleanouts and flushing connections are provided at
intersections and in line intervals as recommended by EPA.
