2. FACILITY'S OPERATION & PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The facility receives various type of steel, brought in by trucks. The received raw material is stored outdoors prior to being
fabricated indoors. The company cuts, and paints structural steel to customer specifications. The finished product is stored
outdoors prior to being shipped out to customers.

Loading/Unloading Operations Heavy forklifts move steel from delivery trucks to temporary yard storage awaiting fabrication.
Finished steel product is shipped out on trucks.
Raw material steel and finished product is stored outdoors when not in-process. Steel storage in
Outdoor Storage Facilities the main yard can be seen in photos DSCN0609-DSCN0610. Steel is also stored outside of the
"retail" building, as shown in photos DSCN0624-DSCN0625.

Processing Operations None observed.
Dust/Particulate The majority of outdoor surfaces at the facility are gravel. All of the processing operations are
Generation Activities indoors.

Management of Run-off
Controls(storage areas, Ditches were observed along several of the roads and railroad tracks at the facility to help
diversion ditches, manage stormwater runoff(see photos DSCN0605, DSCN0616, DSCN0621-DSCN0623; and
dumpsters,secondary DSCN0626-DSCN0627). To limit erosion in these ditches, the ditches are stabilized with gras_s._
containment,-&etc:)
The facility uses two sedimentation ponds, one at the eastern end, which can overflow across
the ground via an emergency spillway (see photo DSCN0617) and a second sedimentation pond
Sediment&Erosion Controls on south side (see photo DSCN0618) serving much of the storage yard, with an outlet towards
the rail line. There is a mid-yard drain (see photo DSCN0619) that is piped to the southern pond.
Riprap is also used in a few spots, including to slow flow from the drainage system serving much
of the storage yard as shown in photo DSCN0618.
Spills/Leaks Handing Spills indoors are addressed with absorbent materials. Most of the indoor manufacturing`
processes are dry processes, to there is minimal opportunity for spills.
