Crystal,
I received this email twice for some reason. Is there any difference between the two?
Anyway, the changes you describe would be considered a major modification to the permit. You will need to submit an
application, revised supplements, revised calculations, revised plans showing the changes, and the $505 fee. The
revised plans can be as built drawings as long as all of the proposed changes are shown on the plans, including raising
the temporary pool elevation.
Let me know if you have more questions!

Subject: [External] SW8 140601 - P1391 Camp Lejeune
Christine,
I'm emailing about the P1391 Camp Lejeune project. Below is an email chain from March of this year to bring you up to
speed.
The project finished construction over a 1 year ago. The contractor submitted as-builts to NAVFAC and when NAVFAC
reviewed they found issues with Sand Filters 1 & 2 not being constructed in accordance with the plans. I took a look and
found that Sand Filter Basins 1 & 2 where built a little smaller than required. I have re -run calculation and determined
the best solution is to raise the temporary water surface elevation and do some minor regrading in the bottom Sand
Filter 1. This will be the least impactful, since the site are stabilized. Below is a summary of the changes needed:
BMP 1:
• For the BMP to have the required volume:
o The riprap weir between the sedimentation basin and sand filter need to raise to elevation 13.50
(original design was 13.00).
o The rip rap discharge from the sand filter need to be at elevation 13.50 (original design was 13.00).
o The bottom of the sand filter need to be regraded — the 11 contour. It needs to be set at a 3:1 slope
(33%) from the existing 12 contour.
BMP 3:
• For the BMP to have the required volume:
o The riprap weir between the sedimentation basin and sand filter need to raise to elevation 17.25
(original design was 17.00)
o The rip rap discharge from the sand filter need to be at elevation 17.25 (original design was 17.00.
NAVFAC wants to get the permit updated, so the correct elevations, surface areas and volumes are shown on the
permit. My questions to you is, what are the next steps I need to take to get the permit reapproved/or what is the best
approach?
I would prefer not to have to update the design drawings, but instead submit the as -built drawings of each basin and
show/label the rework I mention above.
I have attached markups of the permit changes, revised calculations and supplement forms so you can see the extent of
the revision. The changes are redlined or highlighted.
Please give me a call or email if you have questions. If you need me to send anything additional just let me know.
Thanks,
Crystal Hill PE, LEED AP BD+C, ENV SP
