As I mentioned in my last email, I do need to submit the permit request to Holley at DWQ. I will be doing that today once
I figure out the correct portal to utilize. However,to complete the RFAI chain we had started I wanted to also respond to
your last request regarding Option 2 and the pipe.
For Option 2—The engineer did review the use of a retaining wall system but the tie-backs would be located under the
house and for that reason that was not considered a viable option. Please see the attached Option 2 drawing with notes
referencing the tie-backs.
Pipe/culvert burial and cross section—The engineer also updated the Preferred Layout drawing to include the pipe
cross-section. Unfortunately, due to the elevation of the sewer line along the receiving channel, we cannot bury the pipe
as desired. However,the system appears to be collecting sediment/accreting. So,the engineer is proposing to place rip-
rap at the pipe outlet and stack it 1' above the pipe elevation. This will allow sediment to continue to collect in the pipe
over time.

well.
Again, I will be submitting the entire permit and drawings to Holley/DWQ and will wait for any questions or comments
from her.

Thanks for talking with me earlier. As discussed, please provide a narrative discussion regarding why option 2 would not
work with the use of retaining wall structures.Also provide a depiction of the pipe burial to demonstrate compliance
with regional conditions, "Placement of culverts and other structures in streams shall be below the elevation of the
streambed by one foot for all culverts with a diameter greater than 48 inches, and 20% of the culvert diameter for
culverts having a diameter less than or equal to 48 inches.".
