As you know, the Watauga River from its headwaters to the US 321 bridge
has been reclassified from C-Trout to B-Trout waters. Consequently,
permit limitations for the two (2) subject facilities need to be
modified to reflect fecal coliform limits (200,400 per 100 ml) and the
appropriate amount of chlorine residual determined by a Wasteload
Allocation.
Note, however, that Highland Development Company uses ultraviolet (UV)
disinfection. Therefore, the chlorine residual would be applicable
only if emergency chlorination was necessary.
The expeditious modification of these permits is greatly appreciated.
Per Mack Wiggins, wasteloads are being run on Hebron Colony, Mill Ridge
and Seven Devils for the same purpose.
