Email: elizabeth.meyer1 @gapac.com, Cell: 910-547-7080 Facility has a fully implemented SP3 plan; sampling and records appear to be in good order. Oil sheen was observed in the log yard pool (low to medium). Three separate oil booms and turbidity curtains installed in the log yard pool near outfall 001 after a recent rain event and 5 gallon of hydraulic oil was released. Recommended to use oil absorbent pads (2x2, 3x3) to clear the oil sheen. Elizabeth confirmed that 'Spill Prevention/Cleanup procedure' exists at the site for such events and was recommended to add the same to SWPPP. Also recommended the site to carry out visual inspection by tracking upstream of this SW path to discover source of oil sheen and take necessary containment actions. Water is released from plant to log yard pond via a screen area with a float operated pump that can send excess spill to another spill pond in case of emergency. In the current configuration it is suspected that any oil released will reach the log yard pond without being retained in the screen area. Recommended to check for screen and pump operation ability to retain oil spill from reaching the log yard pond water. Also recommended to observe and revisit the good housekeeping practices section of the site SWPPP and ensure implementation on the sites.
