Wet Log Deck Storage site
Johnston County
Dear Mr. Hayes:
After reviewing the letter received about the April 2023 Discharge Monitoring Report
(DMR), we do not think there are any violations.
Our wet deck operation did not start until Monday April 3, 2023. Our first sample was taken on
Wednesday April 5, 2023.
We sample once a week each Wednesday. Our sample frequency has always been the same in
the past years if you review our records. If you look at 2022 for example when we started our
wet deck and sampling. We sampled it in 2022 on the 6", 14th, 20th, and 27th. There was no
violation for the week of April 1't, 2022.
Our oil and grease from each sample was not detected and we stated zero, but that does not
show up on the electrical report. April 5, 12, 19, and 26t' were all not detected. In my past
samples I always put <5.0 and will continue to do so like have in the all the past years since
electronical submission started.
Something else that has changed is our flow. In 2018 after our permit renewal, we were able to
use a county water line with pressure to help on our wet deck operations. We sent notification
of this when we sent in our permit renewal in 2018. Leaf Environmental helped me submit our
permit renewal for NCO0859 earlier this year. With the usage history they determined our flow is
now 0.450 mgd.
I would also like information on how I can submit a request to reduce our sample
frequency like we discussed on the phone. Please forward the information or who I
need to contact to start the process.
Thanks,
Kevin Williams
