Dave,
I wanted to notify you of an issue we are having on the WS Beltway. The Erosion Control plan for the Borrow site calls
for two sediment basins with a riser pipes, due to the large drainage area the basin is receiving. Despite direction from
DOT to wait until the basin is completed per plan, the contractor directed crews to begin grubbing yesterday, leaving the
area inadequately protected. Upon discovery, DOT personnel directed the contractor on temporary preventative
erosion control measures, until the necessary parts for the riser arrive (approx. mid-week next week). We don't have
any sediment losses at this time; however, we wanted to make you aware of our issues and what is being done to
address them. I've attached a copy of Phil's report after our project personnel requested his assistance. I'll let you
know when the area is brought into compliance with the Erosion Control plan.
