Wadesboro Attachments: Valley Proteins WWTP map:jpg; Valley Proteins permit description pages.pdf; Valley Proteins MWs Chloride data.pdf, Valley Proteins MWs Sulfate data.pdf Troy; The attachments provided I think will yelp with cleaning up the issues you .have with Valley Proteins. I didn't change the Word document you sent. If you can, get the 2012. version from Alice and'doctor accordingly. I've labeled a map with the various components, that are iclontifieI in the permit language page. If you'have more questions, give me a call on Monday. For the verbiage in condition IV.6, use tenths of a foot verses, inches. I believe the facility is already doing the total nitrogen calc. for PAN determination. Keep Chloride in the Attachment C for groundwater monitoring. Valley Proteins doesn't disinfect their wastewater prior irrigation due to no domestic wastewater being managed by the treatment system and irrigation system. Evidently they get old feed and processed meats in conjunction with chicken parts from the slaughter plant. The feed and processed waste must have salt in the material, (hence the Chloride -showing up in the monitoring. Add Sulfate (00945) back into the Attachment C since the monitoring system is indicting Sulfate detects. This could be from macro/micro nutrient applications of sulfur to the fescue or could also be part of the waste stream they receive for rendering. No issues with Phosphorus being added as part of the standard template. Wadesboro Jim, Attached is a copy of the draft permit for Valley Protein. I've attached the word file so that you can do any editing to the description required. And please do so. I found it somewhat confusing. From google maps it looked as though there was one fairly conventional oxidation ditch and then another holding basin (the one farthest north) where there was aeration going on. I've included a jpg and would appreciate knowing what these structures are relative to description. Also look at Condition IV.6 — there is verbage about nearest inch or tenth of a foot. It wasn't in the old permit, which usually means the gauge doesn't show that. Will you delete or leave in as appropriate. In Attachment A, I've included total nitrogen which they can simply calculate. In Attachment C, there is chloride, but are they, chlorinating as disinfectant? If not, why is it there? Also in Attachment C, I've added phosphorus, which has become standard. If you have any other comments, questions or concerns, please let me know by next Friday, the 23rd. Thanks!
