I spoke with your husband earlier today after I got more information about the process Mr. Hedrick went through last
week. I explained that there are no new CAMA permits issued. The CAMA permit for the condos was issued in 2010 afflN.,
has been modified twice and renewed. The most recent permit was for 10 slips and was issued last year in May.
understood you two as wanting to challenge a CAMA permit decision when you were concerned about the DWQ
variance case, and so that's why he gave you the CAMA hearing request form.
As I also discussed with your husband, the contact information for the person at DWR who handled the variance issue
for DWR is Jennifer Bodette. Her contact information is below. She will be able to help answer any questions about the
DWR Neuse buffer rules that you may have regarding RiverWinds. I spoke with Mr. Hedrick this morning, and he plans
to ask Ms. Bodette to come down for a site visit to see what he can do about other possible ADA related
improvements. You may ask to meet with her before or after her site visit with Mr. Hedrick if she is able to come down.
Please let me know if you have any further questions, and please email confirming a withdrawal of your petition as soon
;is possible in order to stop this quick-turnaround process that DCM and I are working on now in response.
Thanks!

Ms. Carperos-
I am an Assistant Attorney General, and am representing DCM staff in the CAMA 3rd Party Hearing Request
you filed on May 201h against RiverWinds. I've reviewed your petition, and am unclear what CAMA permit
decision you are attempting to challenge. The most recent permit issued to RiverWinds, was a Major
Modification to CAMA Major Permit No. 122 -10 authorized on March 27, 2014 for the addition ten slips and
four mooring pilings to an existing docking facility. The original permit issuance was issued on October 28,
2010 and authorized the upland development, and there was also a Minor Modification to the Permit on
September 14, 2012 authorizing two decks. This process requires that you file any such appeals within 20 days
of the CAMA permit decision, and since all of these are over a year old, I wonder if you can help me figure out
what you are trying to challenge.
You say in your petition that "I do not know if the permit for the porch extensions has been issued, but I do
know that Mr. Hedrick went to Raleigh last week to apply for it." This wouldn't be a CAMA permit, as those
are done through my client's offices in Morehead City, and to my knowledge, there are no new permit
applications from RiverWinds or Mr. Hedrick. Division of Water Resources has offices in Raleigh, but you can't
challenge a DWR permit through this CAMA permit process.
Please help me understand better what you are trying to challenge, and if you wish to withdraw this challengs.
Thanks -
Christy Goebel
