Home My WebLink About20140957 Ver 1_Other Documents_20150603701 East Cary Street Richmond, VA 23219 Dear Neighbor, Atlantic cOO a St Pi�elin�� We all need reliable energy It heats our homes, runs our businesses, and makes just about everything we do possible Despite being so vital, we often take it for granted But the truth is, our modern society requires a modern energy grid of wires, pipes, power plants and other infrastructure to keep it running That is why four home -grown companies -- Dominion, Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas and AGL Resources -- have proposed building the Atlantic Coast Pipeline The pipeline is being designed and will be built to safely transport abundant and clean - burning natural gas to energize homes and businesses in Virginia and North Carolina The pipeline will also bring a host of much - needed economic benefits More than 17,000 fobs will be supported by the construction work with a total economic impact of more than $2 7 billion More than $25 million a year in local tax revenue will be paid by the pipeline — extra money for schools, parks and, the volunteer fire department, for example And, all energy consumers in Virginia and North Carolina will share in an estimated $377 million annual savings in lower energy prices once the pipeline is in service. The Atlantic Coast Pipeline is also important to our environment Natural gas delivered by the pipeline will be used to replace coal for generating electricity It also will support the development of renewable energy such as solar and wind by serving as a critical back -up fuel when the sun isn't shining or the wind isn't blowing I thought you might appreciate the enclosed fact book that describes the need for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, the benefits it will bring to our region, and how to make your voice heard.
