Per the September 5, 2014 letter from Karen Higgins (DWR) referencing the Year 5
monitoring and closeout of the Carl Lloyd Bank Parcel, RES has completed the
remaining maintenance items. This addendum to the Year 5 monitoring report
documents the work performed, requests the final credit release, and site closeout.
Specific maintanance activities are described below.
1. Replant Buffer Restoration Area 6 with sufficient containerized stock to bring
the stem count density to 320 stems per acre.
RES staff planted 35 trees in Restoration Area 6 (0.1 acre). This density exceeds the
320 stems per acre criterion. All trees were three gallon containerized stock and
averaged 5 -7 feet tall. Species include river birch, white oak, red oak, willow oak,
sycamore, tulip tree, and green ash. This work was performed on June 2, 2015.
Representative photos of the planted trees are included below.
2. Address the encroachment /sediment issue along the east side of Buffer
Restoration Area 1.
RES staff re -set the existing silt fence and marked the easement boundary with
several flexible PVC markers. The markers are spaced approximately 50 feet apart
and provide a continuous visual boundary from the adjacent cricket field. The
released sediment into the easement did not enter the restoration area and has been
stabilized by volunteer herbaceous vegetation. The adjacent disturbed area is
stabilized and does not pose a continued threat to the restoration area. This work was
performed on June 2, 2015. Representative photographs of the sediment and
easement markers are included below.
3. Aggressively mark all easement boundaries, especially in the encroachment
areas identified.
RES staff marked the easement boundary with flexible PVC markers approximately
four feet tall. Each marker includes a placard clearly identifying the area as protected
conservation easement with no encroachment allowed. In addition, the previously
place corner marker poles were inspected and are still intact. The supplemental
markers were place a maximum of 100 feet apart in most areas and approximately 40
