Dear Sonia,
Our sludge is produced from a flock that is the result of increasing the ph of the influent, adding
a coagulant, and polymer. This mixture is sent to a clarifier for separation of the Flock and Water. The
Flock precipitates to the bottom of a hopper and the water continues to a final tank where the PH is
adjusted to a parameter 6—9.The sludge is pumped into the filter press which squeezes most of the
water from the sludge. Now the cake is scraped from the filter screens in to a auger style dryer, where
the cake is dried to a powder consistency. The sludge has now become a F006 Hazardous waste stored
in 55 gallon drums awaiting Environmental Marketing Services, Inc.to take delivery.
Thanks,

Outfall 001: Wastewater is generated from 3 Electro-plating Lines (Tin, Zinc, and Chrome), 1 Black
Oxide Line, and several vibratory finishing machines. The wastewater flows into 2) 4000 gallon tanks.
Wastewater then flows thru 3 treatment tank where the PH is adjusted, coagulant and polymer added,
and mixed thoroughly. A Flock is produce and travels thru a clarifier for separation where the Flock or
sludge precipitates in a hopper and clean water is adjusted for PH and discharged into the West Fork
French Broad River. The sludge is then pumped into a filter press where most of the water is squeezed
out. The sludge cake is scraped from the screens and falls into a sludge dryer where the still damp
cake becomes a powder and ready to ship to hazardous waste land fill.
