Dear Ms. Wheeler:
Dur•ing construction of the Subject project, it became apparent that in order to comply with
ASHTO safety standards, additional hand clearing will be needed along the edges of the
currently cleared area to obtain the required 30 foot clear recoveiy area. As such, this
additional hand clearing will include slivers of t11e following wetlands:

The clear•ing within wetlands will be hand clearing only. The total impacts will be 0.2058
acre. Due to the thin, linear nature of these impacts, they are shown depicted as hand
shaded red areas on the attached permit drawings. The updated impact summary tables are
also provided. As these impacts are limited to hand clearing, no mitigation is proposed.
R_egulatory Ap�rovals
We request this change in design be authorized through a modification of the Individual
Permit. By copy of this letter, we are requesting that NCDWR 401 WQC and NCDCM
CAMA Major Permit be modified to authorize this design change. If you have any
