Lauren and Dan,
Cliffside Sanitary District 'Deemed Permitted' sewer collection system WQCSD0287 is in
receipt of the
attached NOV for an SSO experienced during the week of March 31, 2023. As mentioned in
the 5-day
report submitted after mitigation measures were completed for the SSO, we had the manhole
that was
blocked with debris (wipes, rags, and rocks), the manhole below this manhole, and the
manhole below
that manhole, jetted by an outside contractor to thoroughly clean all 3. We had 'catch &
retrieval' tools
available to catch and remove most of the material to prevent any additional issues occurring
at the main
pump station for Cliffside Sanitary. Cliffside Sanitary has also updated our existing 'FOG' public
education
material to incorporate public education information for 'WIPES' and other materials that
should not be
flushed into the sanitary sewer and have attached the approval email from LGC-David Erwin.
BRWA has
agreed to get the material uploaded to their website under the section for Cliffside Sanitary
District and
to do a mail out to the Cliffside Sanitary Customers of the information. Cliffside Sanitary staff
are awaiting
some additional parts to complete our own Jetter to get a more comprehensive manhole and
sewer
cleaning program started. Jetter's usually have an initial cost of $13,000.00 and up, but we will
have
around $4000.00 in this one. That's a $9000.00 savings. Please let me know if there are
questions or
more information is needed, and please confirm your receipt of this email response to the
subject NOV.
