Post Office Box 48 Aurora, North Carolina 27806 Date: 26 May 2015 4709 College Acres Dr. Wilmington, NC 28403 Background At Jeff Furness' request CZR provides this scope and cost estimate to install and monitor 14 wells in the Bonnerton Tract of the Bonnerton Non - Riverine Wet Hardwood Forest in and near the upper headwaters of Porter Creek, Beaufort County, NC (see attached Figure 1). Scope of Work This scope includes costs for labor and equipment for two biologists to install 14 shallow -water monitoring wells in the upper headwaters of Porter Creek. Biologists will navigate to the approximate locations as shown in Figure 1 using GPS coordinates. Actual well locations may be moved to insure they are representative of site conditions (not in a depression or on a knoll). For any wells moved from the map location, a GPS will be used to collection and document the well location. An approximate 5 -foot long 2- inch PVCwell screen (10 slot) will be installed with about 35 inches below the ground surface and back - filled with filter sand. An In -Situ semi - continuous electronic monitor (LevelTroll) will be placed within each well screen to collect water level data recorded every 1.5 hours. The recorder is suspended in the screen to record water within 20 inches of the ground surface (hydrology for wetlands is documented within 12 inches of the surface during the growing season). Metal fence posts will be installed around each monitoring site and barbed wire will be wrapped around the posts to protect wells from bear damage. Monitoring wells will be inspected once a month to download data and perform QA/QC readings (manual measurements within the wells screen). Well data will be used document wetland hydroperiods and be compared with rain events and monthly rainfall. This monitoring will continue throughout the mine development, mining, and reclamation phases of the Bonnerton Non- Riverine Wet Hardwood Forest targeted area. Desired Outcomes - Procurement and fabrication of equipment; - Installation of 14 monitoring wells and bear exclosures in mid to late June 2015; - Begin water level monitoring in June 2015 and download data monthly; - Review and management of water level data monthly; - Prepare data spreadsheets to document water levels and compare to rainfall; - Prepare annual summary of monitoring and report wetland hydroperiods relative to natural and atypical rainfall periods.
