ECI2YIP.0. Box 1006 This letter is to inform you in accordance with 18 CFR 12.10(b) of a drowning that occurred on Lake Keowee on Friday, April 3, 2015. Treven Tolliver, 17, of Greer, SC is reported to have drowned while trying to swim from the lake shore to an island with friends. He was removed, transported to a hospital, treated and resuscitated before later dying from complications associated with the incident. The drowning occurred near a popular swimming area known as "The Rock ". For more information, see the attached public safety incident report and news article. Duke Energy advises this incident did not take place near a dam, spillway, intake, or power line, so in accordance with 18 CFR 12,10 (b) (4), this incident is defined as non - project related. Greer teen dies hours after being pulled from Lake Keowee I Local News - WYFF Home Page 1 of 1 Greer teen dies hours after being pulled from Lake Keowee UPDATED 2:13 PM EDT Apr 05, 2015 OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. - A 17- year -old boy was pronounced dead Friday after being pulled from Lake Keowee, Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis said. Divers were called to the lake about 5:20 p.m. after reports that the teen went under after trying to swim to an island with his friends, Emergency Management Director Scott Krein said. The teen was identified at Treven Tolliver of Greer. Krein said Tolliver had decided to turn around but went under while swimming back to shore. The incident reportedly occurred near the popular swimming location known as "The Rock." Divers and boats were used to search the lake. Krein said Tolliver was found about 6 p.m. Treatment was provided by EMS with transport to the emergency department at Oconee Memorial Hospital. Once there, he was resuscitated and then transferred to the emergency department at Greenville Memorial Hospital. The coroners office said Tolliver died from complications of apparent drowning. The Greenville County School district says Tolliver was a student at Greer High School. Tolliver's family says he was a senior.
