Comment: The records reviewed durinq the inspection were organized and well maintained.
Discharge Monitoring Reports (eDMRs) were reviewed for the period March 2022
through February 2023. Daily maximum and monthly average effluent oil & grease and
TSS violations were reported for August 2022 at Outfall 004. The Division has
Previously addressed these limit violations through the issuance of a Notice of

Comment: On -site field measurements (pH and temperature) are performed under the Duke
Energy/McGuire Nuclear Power Plant's certified field laboratory (#5156). Duke
Energy's Analytical Laboratory and the contracted services of Pace Analytical
Services, Gel Labortories (oil & grease and TSS - Outfall 004 only) and ETS, Inc.
(toxicity tests) all provide analytical support.

Comment: The flow measurement system at Outfall 002 is calibrated annually and was last
calibrated on 1/24/2023 by Duke Energy's Instrumentation Department. Outfall 001
flows are based on pump curves and Outfall 004 flows are based on known tank
volumes (batch discharges). Outfall 005 flows can be measured with a V-notch weir
and staff quage. Outfall 002 flows are subtracted from Outfall 005 flows to determine
the final flow for Outfall 005 if both outfalls are discharging. Note: The discharge from
Outfall 002 combines with Outfall 005's discharge prior to the flow measurement
system for Outfall 005.

Comment: No discharge was observed from Outfall 002 at the time of the inspection. No oil
sheens, foam or floating solids were observed in Outfalls 001 and 005.
The receiving
stream did not appear to be negatively impacted. Fish were observed in Outfall 001's
discharge canal and the pond for Outfall 005.
