Due to low bridge elevation in relation to the surface water elevation, you are requesting authorization to construct a temporary coffer dam to allow dewatering during construction of an interior bridge bent. The proposed work will result in temporary impacts to 287 square feet of open water in Knobbs Creek. The proposed work is consistent with the terms and conditions of NWP 3 and the permit has been modified. You must insure that no live concrete comes in contact with surface waters and that no inwater work takes place between February 15 and June 15 of any year. All other terms and conditions, including the March 18, 2017 expiration date remain in effect. Tracey L. To reflect the additional impacts, revised permit drawings are attached to this message. The coffer dam will be dewatered using NCDOT BMP's to prevent any sediment from entering the creek, and live concrete will not come in contact with water entering the creek. NCDOT will adhere to all Nationwide Permit 3 and 401 Water Quality Certification conditions associated with this project. Please let me know if you need any additional information or have any concerns with this notification. Thanks, 1 Paul C.
