The fact that the channel is rock lined probably helped us, since much of the sediment collected among the Class I rip rap in the streambed vs reaching the Yadkin River. Also, staff indicated that we received 3.5" of rain over the weekend. While I hate to see any sediment loss, I feel a little better about the effectiveness of our EC measures given the amount of rainfall that occurred. Let me know if you need any additional information. Thanks! The tributary is on the Forsyth county side and was permitted to go into a new rock lined ditch — labeled Site 2 below. I also attached the permit package — the permit drawings start on page 50, in case you want to see the entire stream (it's split between two plan sheets — sheet 5 and sheet 6). I've asked them to report back what happened (I'm assuming a failed silt fence), and to report how many 5-gallon buckets they picked up from the stream. I was just at the site Thursday of last week and it looked to be in good shape. This is the first loss to this stream even though it has been relocated into the rock lined ditch for a year or so, so I'm assuming they must have gotten a heavy rain/storm. I've asked them to report the rainfall amount as well. I'm going to swing back by this week to check on the cleanup effort. We should have you a tally of the amount of sediment picked up soon.
