EHNR agencies attended the meeting as well as the Dept of Commerce and Agriculture. Hirsch went on at great length about how important this EIS is to the Governor and the State of North Carolina. FERC has scheduled a scoping meeting on July 14 (10:00a.m -5:00p.m.) at the Raleigh Sheraton Inn, Crabtree Valley to solicit input from resource agencies and the public. Hirsch scheduled a strategy meeting on July 12 in the 11th FLCR at 1:30p.m. to discuss the major issues we need to address at the scoping meeting and to decide who will speak at the scoping meeting. Both John and I will be out next week so I gave Ruth the scoping document I picked up at the meeting. She mentioned that there is a Neuse Coalition meeting at 2:00p.m on the 12th, but she thought that maybe she or Juan could still make an appearance. Jimmie 0 and Alan Clark might be interested in attending the scoping meeting and pre-strategy meeting next week as well. The timeline for the Roanoke Basinwide Plan came up at today's meeting. Hirsch threw out the notion of accelerating the plan completion date by six months to incorporate its findings into FERCs EIS analysis. Our draft written comments on the scoping document are due to Melba McGee on July 22. A follow-up meeting will then be held on July 26th at 1:30p.m. (11thf1CR) to discuss these draft comments. Page: 1
