A set of plans was previously submitted to your office for review on February, 5, 2015, with the
intentions of the plans serving as a modification to the Stormwater Management Plan (SMP)
associated with an existing 401 Water Quality Certification (DWQ #960090). After further
research, it appears that this project should be "deemed permitted ", pursuant to Senate Bill 229,
without the proposed alterations to the existing orifices and /or riser structures
The project includes the grading of Taxiway Safety Areas (TSA) along the taxiway edges, which
extend approximately 34 feet beyond the taxiway edge of pavement at slopes between 3% -
5% The stormwater drains from the taxiway pavement, across the TSA, and Into existing
drainage swales Stormwater from the apron expansion leaves the apron and flows
approximately 50 feet across similarly sloped grass sections before entering drainage swales
The grades coming off the taxiways and apron create buffers, draining into shallow swales,
which appear to provide sufficient treatment per Senate Bill 229. Modifications to the existing
outlet structures would promote additional standing water at the airport, which is an attractant to
geese and other wildlife, causing safety concerns for pilots using the airport
There are no wetland or stream impacts associated with this project
If you have any questions or need additional Information, please do not hesitate to call
