The City of Asheboro Water/Sewer Maintenance Department received a call on April 19th, 2022 about a
manhole running over near 225 N Elm St. The Water/Sewer Maintenance Department's investigator responded
immediately. The Investigator found that manhole #2501 was overflowing. He called a crew in to unstop the sewer
immediately.
The crew arrived on site and started rodding the sewer main to unstop the blockage. They rodded 381 ft. of
sewer line and the main dropped out. We found a lot of grease and roots had broke free when it dropped out. We then
ran our outfall camera into the manhole down the line to make sure the main is now free with no obstructions. During
this time we had hours of heavy downpours of rain.
The City of Asheboro requests that the NCDENR refrain from taking any enforcement action as a result of this
incident. The Water/Sewer Maintenance Department displayed a prompt response time. There was no environmental
