This letter is in response to the Notice of Violation, Tracking No. NOV-2022-0100 concerning the spill
that occurred on February 02, 2022, at 3232 Bowers Avenue, Guilford County, High Point, North
Carolina.
The spill at the above -mentioned address lasted for approximately 30 minutes. The crews arrived onsite
at 3232 Bowers Avenue at 11:20 am. They immediately identified the blockage area and worked to
unstop the sewer main using a sewer combination cleaning truck. It was determined that the blockage
was caused by grease. The overflowing manhole was beside a small creek and the crew was unable to
catch all of the spillage. Once the spill was knocked down, all solids were removed, and lime was spread
over the area as needed. The line was inspected by CCTV camera to see if there were any other issues,
none were found. After further inspection an address was identified as a contributor to spill from the
amount of grease at the tap. FOG door hangers were passed out in the area to help educate the
residents about proper disposal of grease.
The frequency of cleaning / inspection has been increased to help prevent any future spills in this area.
