S�CVarla, !II Secretary This letter is in response to your request, dated December 18, 2014, to modify the design of the support bases for the existing power poles on the so�ih side of the bridge at the Carteret Bridge No.33 project, B-�722B. Your request indicates that portions of the existing causeway will need to be retained with rip rap to protect the power poles, which would result in an additiona10.01 acre of rip rap in surface waters. Additionally, your letter indicated that CenturyLink has elected to attach a 4" conduit on the south side of the proposed structure to carry a fiber optic telecommunications cable over the North River, which would not result in any additional irrtpacts to wetlands or Waters of the State. Through this Letter of Ref nement, the N.C. Division of Coastal Management (DCM) conveys its determination that the above referenced request is consistent with existing State rules and regulations and is keeping with the original purpose and intent of CAMA Permit No. 95-14 and therefore, DCM authorizes the consiruction of the power poie stabilization measures and change in utiiity line location as described in your request letter dated December 18, 2014. This letter shall be attached to the original oi CAMA Permit No. 95-14 and all documents shall be readily availabie on site when a DCM representative inspects the project for compliance. All conditions and stipulations of the active permit rernain in force unless altered herein. This wil� result in an additional 0.01 acre of rip rap in surface water to provide adequate stabilization. Additionally, CenturyLink has e�ected to attach a 4" conduit on the south side of the proposed bridge rather than directional boring the telephone line. This will not resUlt in any additional innpacts to �urisdictional resources.
