This letter is in response to the Notice of Violation, Tracking # NOV-2020-DV-0265 concerning the spill
that occurred on March 16th, 2020 at 918 Lakecrest Avenue Guilford County, High Point, North Carolina.
The spill at the above -mentioned address was caused by grease and lasted for 30 minutes. The crews
arrived onsite at 918 Lakecrest Avenue at 8:20am. They worked to unstop the sewer main using a
sewer combination cleaning truck and determined that the blockage was caused by a large amount of
grease that had built up in the invert of the overflowing manhole. Once the spill was knocked down all
solids were removed, and lime was spread over the area.
The mini basin feeding the lift station was cleaned to prevent another repeat spill. This location is on a
preventative maintenance schedule and is being monitored more frequently and cleaning has been
increased to help prevent any future spills in this area. The City of High Point has printed FOG
prevention doorhangers to be hung in instances such as these.
If you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to call me at (336) 883-3691.
Sincerely,
Michael S. Parrish
