We are writing in response to your letter dated August 31st, 2021 Notice of Violation and Assessment
of Civil Penalty Case No.: DV-2021-0138 that took place at 304 South Scientistic Street and would like
to provide justification as to why a civil penalty of any amount would impede our efforts to better the
City of High Point collection system.
A Crew was onsite of the spill at the above -mentioned address within fifteen minutes of receiving the
call. During that time crews worked to unstop the sewer main using a sewer cleaning truck. It was
determined that the blockage consisted of grease. Once the spill was contained all solids were
removed and lime was spread over the area. The creek was flushed with clean water and monitored for
adverse effects. This line was cleaned and flushed with degreaser afterwards.
This section of main was placed on the Preventive Maintenance (PM) list to be cleaned every other
month. We will continue to monitor this section of line and the sub -basin to ensure the fats, oil, and
grease are properly being addressed.
We respectfully request that a monetary fine not be imposed on the City of High Point so that we may
continue to better our collection system for the community of High Point.
If you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to call me at (336) 883-3691.
Sincerely,
Michael S. Parrish
