This letter is in response to the Notice of Violation and R/co en ation for Enforcement Letter
dated June 03, 2020 received by the City of Greensboro. The address where the violation
occurred and the amount spilled is shown below:

The sanitary sewer release at 6103 Landmark Center Blvd. was due to debris in the sanitary
sewer at this address. A combination jet truck was dispatched to unstop the blockage and clean
the line. Once the sanitary sewer overflow was stopped, we thoroughly cleaned all lines in the
area to ensure we could perform a CCTV inspection of the lines, and we found no deficiencies to
correct.
Due to the sanitary sewer line's location, the discharge flowed into two nearby storm retention
ponds that we dammed up and pumped out for five consecutive days. The discharge was pumped
back into the collections system to remediate as much environmental impact as possible. We
notified our regional DEQ representative Ron Boone and asked if he could visit the site to
provide any recommendations on spill clean up or site restoration. We also skimmed both ponds
to remove all dead fish from the pond and cleaned up any debris that collected in the ponds as
well.
After we pumped the ponds down and completed our cleanup operation, we then flushed the
ponds for five days and spread lime around the affected area.
It is our duty to comply with the requirements of Collection System Permit Number WQCS00006
and G.S. 143-215.1(a)(1), and we will continue to address unforeseen circumstances as quickly
